Camara Island

Camara Island is the closest island from the shores of Pundaquit. The island, like its close neighbor Capones, is also a big lump of rock with very little soil. There aren’t many trees, but due to the rock formations and angle of the island, it’s not hard to find shade and scenic spots for a great photoshoot.

The island offers a great view of the open ocean. It has two sides separated by a white sandbar that becomes visible during low tide and disappears during high tide. There are plenty of big rocks on this island that dwarf tourists, and it won’t be long until you find yourself taking photos next to one, astonished by their size and weight.

With the booming tourism in Pundaquit, old ways of illegal fishing was banned with the help of its LGU. It may take decades for sea life to flourish again but since locals now have other means of livelihood, only time can help the reefs of Capones Island recover.
