About JL & Amy

JL & Amy at Nagsasa Cove September of 2010

My name is JL and I love to go fishing. Amy on the other hand loves photography. We both share the same addiction exploring nature and spending our time at the beach. We’ve both traveled in and around the Philippines. In our first few months together as a couple, we visited Pundaquit in San Antonio Zambales.

We explored the islands and coves and brought our families and friends with us each time we went back. They all enjoyed their stay and the hospitality of the locals, specially with those who we hired as cooks, guides and boatmen. We’ve visited the place countless times and there was always something new and more reasons to go back.

We met Kuya Randy by accident when in one of trips, our boatman did not arrive. I’ve met Kuya Randy before but did not need his services until that day. He greeted me with the same friendly smile and asked what was wrong. He then offered to take us to the cove instead. He then took us to Nagsasa cove, which was our first time there. I was surprised to see how skilled he was in maneuvering such a small watercraft for the duration of the one and half hour boatride. We got to the place in one piece and almost everyone there knew Kuya Randy. He was a very frequent visitor and has taken a lot of guests to the place. It was all good feedback even from the natives. We truly enjoyed our short getaway.

Weeks later, I went back to Pundaquit for my fishing adventures and I learned more about Kuya Randy and his reputation as both a father of two and as a friend. Amy and I decided to get ourselves our own banka since we frequently visit Pundaquit. We gave it the name Pelagic and have Kuya Randy use it as his source of income. Pundaquit has become my favorite fishing destination.

More than a decade has passed and Pundaquit has became a favorite destination for many locals and tourists. Anawangin Cove, Nagsasa Cove, Silanguin Cove and the two islands, Capones and Camara, has also become a popular spot for picnics and quick beach outings for many. Tourism exponentially grew and locals now rely on additional and more sustainable income other than fishing. We hope that visitors of this place will take good care of it for future generations to come.

With so many special memories and new found friends in such a wonderful place, we had to celebrate our wedding day here in Pundaquit and make sure that Kuya Randy as one of our Ninong.

Thank you for visiting!
